Very interesting, Adkins, former White Sox, and Royce Ring, former Sox minor leaguer.

I think this may be one of those little deals that sneaks under the radar but really helps the Mets. Johnson is a good athlete and as late as last year, was a top 10 prospect within the Padres organization.

I don't know, I actually think this helps the Padres more, in the long run. Towers and his crew have a history of identifying helpful arms in the pen, and Bell and Ring certainly have the ability to do that, if not the track records yet.

Ben Johnson is a quality fourth outfielder I think, but being a top prospect in the Padres organization says more about the state of affairs in San Diego than it does about the career prospects of Ben Johnson.

Maybe that's true but there's no better pitching coach in baseball than Rick Peterson, and if he can't help Bell and Ring, than I'm not sure who can.

Of course, I only say that he was a future Mets closer because of the hype he recieved in the NY dailies upon his arrival in the Roberto Alomar trade...
