Thursday, July 20, 2006 Interesting Moves Around the League
In some interesting moves around the league yesterday, the Padres released 3B Vinny Castilla and for some reason, the Blue Jays designated Shea Hillenbrand for assignment. There has to be more to that story. As we get more information, we'll pass it along.
Elsewhere... -The Red Sox re-signed P Josh Beckett to a 3 year, $30 million contract extension, covering 2007-09, with an option for 2010. -The Royals traded minor league 2B Ruben Gotay to the Mets for minor league 2B Jeff Keppinger. -Nationals P John Patterson will have "exploratory" surgery on his forearm today.
